I’ve modded my 2021 EcoBoost Mustang, and if you’re looking for more horsepower, I’d recommend starting with a tune. A good custom tune can unlock a significant amount of power and really wakes up the engine. You’ll notice better throttle response and overall performance right away.

Upgrading the intercooler is also a great idea, especially if you plan on pushing the car harder or doing track days. The stock intercooler can struggle with heat soak, which can rob you of power after a few hard pulls. By upgrading it, you’ll maintain more consistent performance, especially in hot weather or under extended driving conditions.

In my experience, the tune made the biggest immediate difference, but the intercooler upgrade is essential if you want to get the most out of the tune and keep your engine running efficiently. If you can do both, they complement each other really well.
