Lowering my Mustang - is it legal?
#1
I'm thinking about lowering my Ford Mustang, but I'm not sure about the legal side of things. Does anyone know if there are any specific laws or regulations I need to be aware of before I go ahead with it? I'm mostly concerned about whether it would pass inspection or if it could get me in trouble with law enforcement. If anyone has gone through this process or knows the rules, I'd really appreciate some guidance.

When it comes to lowering your Mustang, the laws and regulations can vary depending on where you live. In general, you’ll want to make sure that your car’s ride height doesn’t drop below a certain point—many states have rules about the minimum clearance between the ground and the lowest part of the car.

Additionally, your car should still be able to pass the state inspection, which often means the suspension modifications must not interfere with the vehicle's safety features, like headlights being at the correct height or proper alignment.

As for law enforcement, if your Mustang is lowered too much, you could get pulled over if it looks unsafe or if parts are dragging on the ground. It’s a good idea to check your local DMV or state regulations to make sure you’re in the clear. Some states have more lenient laws than others, so it’s definitely worth looking into the specifics for your area before making any changes.
