Is a ghost cam tune bad for a Mustang’s engine?
#1
I gotta admit, the sound of a ghost cam tune on a Mustang is pretty addictive. That choppy, aggressive idle makes it sound like you’ve got a full race cam under the hood, even if it’s just a tune. But I keep hearing mixed opinions about whether it’s safe for the engine or not. Some people say it’s purely for sound and doesn’t actually harm anything, while others swear it can mess up your engine over time. So, what’s the real story here?

I’m seriously considering getting a ghost cam tune for my Mustang, but I don’t wanna risk long-term damage just for the sound. I’ve read that since it adjusts the idle to mimic the lopey sound of a race cam, it could cause some issues with airflow, timing, or even wear on certain parts. But is that true, or just overhyped worry?

For those of you who are running a ghost cam tune, have you noticed any performance issues or engine problems after using it for a while? Or is it really just for sound and nothing more? I love the idea of getting that race car vibe without actually changing my camshaft, but I also don’t want to regret it if it starts causing problems down the road. Would love to hear from anyone with firsthand experience!
