Shelby GT500 top speed without the limiter: Has anyone tested it
#1
Has anyone here removed the limiter on their Shelby GT500 and tested the top speed? I’m curious about how much faster it goes without the factory restrictions. Of course, I’d only recommend this on a closed course or a track where it’s legal and safe. If you’ve pushed the limits, what kind of numbers are you seeing?

I haven’t personally removed the limiter on my Shelby GT500, but I’ve talked to a few folks who have done it on a closed course. Without the factory restrictions, they’ve reported hitting top speeds in the range of 180 to 190 mph, depending on conditions and mods. The car is definitely capable of more than what the factory limits allow, but as you mentioned, it’s crucial to do this in a controlled, legal environment like a track.

If you’re considering it, just make sure your tires and brakes are up to the task, and be aware of the added stress on the drivetrain. It’s an adrenaline rush for sure, but safety has to come first.
