What’s the cost to replace the rear differential on a Ford Mustang?

Ouch... just got quoted $1500 for a rear differential replacement on my Mustang. Is that normal?? I know the rear diff is important, but dang, didn’t expect it to be this much. Anyone have any experience with this repair? Should I try a different shop, or is this price about right?
