What does GT stand for in the Mustang GT?
#1
Okay, I know it might be a basic question, but I’ve always wondered – what does GT actually stand for in the Mustang GT? I’ve heard a few theories, but I’m curious what the official explanation is. Anyone care to educate me?

No worries—it's a question a lot of people have! GT stands for "Gran Turismo" or "Grand Touring." It’s a term that originated in Europe, used to describe cars that were designed for high-speed, long-distance driving with a mix of performance and comfort. When Ford added "GT" to the Mustang, they were aiming to capture that sporty, yet comfortable, vibe. So, when you see a Mustang GT, it’s basically Ford’s way of saying it’s a performance-oriented model with some extra flair.
