Gen2 Cotoye vs Gen3 coyote - need a comparison
#1
I’ve been reading up on the Gen 3 Coyote and wondering if it’s worth considering over my Gen 2. For those who’ve driven both, how does the power feel? Is the Gen 3 more reliable, or is it just a minor upgrade? I’d love to hear from anyone with experience with both engines.

I’ve had the chance to drive both the Gen 2 and Gen 3 Coyotes, and there are definitely some noticeable differences. The Gen 3 engine, which came out in 2018, has a bit more power and revs higher thanks to some upgrades like direct and port injection and a higher compression ratio. You can feel the extra power, especially at higher RPMs.

As for reliability, both engines are solid, but the Gen 3 benefits from the newer technology and seems to be just as dependable, if not slightly better in some aspects due to the updates. If you’re looking for a noticeable performance boost and don’t mind the upgrade, the Gen 3 is worth considering. However, if you’re happy with your Gen 2 and aren’t chasing those extra few horses, you might not find the upgrade necessary.
