Is it worth getting a catalytic converter delete kit for a Mustang?
Posted by: v8ismyheart - 09-16-2024, 09:22 PM - Forum: Questions - No Replies

I’ve been thinking about getting a catalytic converter delete kit for my Mustang, but I’m not sure if it’s worth the hassle. Will it give me a noticeable power boost, or is it just going to make my car loud and fail emissions tests?

My Mustang key turns, but the lock won’t open – how can I fix it?
Posted by: v8ismyheart - 09-16-2024, 09:21 PM - Forum: Electrical - No Replies

Hey everyone, I’m running into a frustrating problem with my Mustang. The key turns in the lock just fine, but the door won’t actually unlock. It feels like the mechanism inside isn’t catching or something. It’s a 2005 Mustang GT, so it’s not the newest car on the block, but this is the first time I’ve had an issue with the lock. I’ve tried using both my regular key and the spare, and they both turn smoothly, but nothing happens – the door just stays locked.

Before I go ahead and assume the whole lock cylinder needs replacing, I’m wondering if there’s a quick fix I can try. I’ve heard some people mention lubricating the lock or even checking the rods inside the door panel. Could it be that something’s just come loose in there? Or is it more likely that the lock cylinder itself is shot and needs replacing?

Also, if anyone’s dealt with this before, how tough is it to get the door panel off without messing anything up? I don’t want to do more harm than good trying to pry things open. Any tips or tricks for getting this sorted would be a huge help, especially if there’s a way to avoid taking it to a mechanic. Thanks in advance, guys!

Does a cold air intake increase MPG on a Mustang?
Posted by: v8ismyheart - 09-16-2024, 09:15 PM - Forum: Questions - No Replies

I’m thinking about installing a cold air intake on my Mustang, and I’ve heard it can boost performance. But will it also improve fuel economy, or is that just wishful thinking? Anyone noticed better MPG after putting one on?

How to roll down Mustang windows using the key fob?
Posted by: v8ismyheart - 09-16-2024, 09:14 PM - Forum: Questions - No Replies

So I’ve heard you can roll down the windows on a Mustang with the key fob, but I can’t seem to get it to work. Is there a trick to it, or is my fob just not set up for this? If anyone knows how to do it, let me know!

Does anyone have a carburetor hoses diagram for a classic Mustang?
Posted by: v8ismyheart - 09-16-2024, 09:12 PM - Forum: Questions - No Replies

Hey everyone! So, I’m currently knee-deep in restoring my '68 Mustang with a 289 V8 engine, and I’ve hit a bit of a roadblock. I’m trying to get everything sorted with the carburetor, but the hoses are giving me a headache. My Mustang has a stock 2-barrel Autolite 2100 carburetor, and while most things are going smoothly, I can’t seem to figure out the exact routing for all the hoses.

It’s my first time dealing with a carbureted engine, so I’m double-checking everything to make sure it’s hooked up right. I know the hoses connect to things like the vacuum advance, PCV valve, and possibly a few other places, but a lot of the original parts were missing when I got the car. I don’t want to guess and risk messing up the engine once I start it up.

Does anyone have a detailed diagram for the carburetor hoses on a 289 V8? Or even better, if you’ve got some clear photos of your setup, that would be super helpful. I just want to make sure everything is routed properly before I get the car running again. Any help would be appreciated – thanks in advance! Oh, and feel free to throw in any tips for tuning or getting the carb dialed in once it’s all set up!

Can an alternator overcharging damage my Mustang?
Posted by: v8ismyheart - 09-16-2024, 08:55 PM - Forum: Electrical - No Replies

I think my alternator is overcharging because my battery voltage is spiking like crazy. Could this damage my Mustang, or is there a built-in safety feature to protect the electrical system? Any advice on fixing it before I have to replace the whole alternator?

Hey folks, I’ve been getting some smoke out of my tailpipe, and I’m starting to worry it’s the piston rings. What are the symptoms of bad piston rings, and how urgent is this to fix? Is it going to wreck my engine if I drive it like this for a while?

What happens if you overfill transmission fluid in a Mustang?
Posted by: v8ismyheart - 09-16-2024, 08:49 PM - Forum: Questions - No Replies

So, I may have accidentally overfilled my Mustang’s transmission fluid… don’t ask how. Is this going to mess things up, or can I just drive it as is? Do I need to drain some, or will the car just sort itself out? Kinda stressing here, help!

Why is my wiper fluid not spraying on my Mustang?
Posted by: v8ismyheart - 09-16-2024, 02:12 PM - Forum: Mechanical - No Replies

Okay, this one’s driving me nuts. My wiper fluid isn’t spraying, but the reservoir is full. Tried checking the nozzles, but everything looks clear. Any chance this is an electrical issue? Or am I missing something obvious? Appreciate any help here!

Symptoms of a bad sway bar on a Mustang?
Posted by: v8ismyheart - 09-16-2024, 02:11 PM - Forum: Mechanical - No Replies

Hey, I’m getting some weird body roll when cornering in my 2016 Mustang. It feels like the car’s swaying more than it should. Could this be a bad sway bar? What are the symptoms to watch out for? Should I look into replacing it, or could it be something else causing this?
